The skin prep timeline every bride should follow

Glowing wedding skin starts months before the day. Here is the calm, simple plan I give every one of my brides.

The secret to makeup that looks like skin is, well, good skin underneath. Not perfect skin, just skin that is calm, hydrated and happy. The best part? It takes far less effort than you think, as long as you start early.

Six months before

Book a visit with a dermatologist or a trusted esthetician if you have anything you would like to work on. This is the time for treatments, never the month of the wedding.

  • Find a gentle cleanser and a moisturiser you love, and stick with them
  • Wear sunscreen every single day, even in winter
  • Drink water like it is your job

One month before

This is when we meet for your bridal trial. I will look at your skin, ask about your routine and build your prep plan around it. From here on, no new products and no new treatments.

Your skin loves routine. The week before the wedding is not the time to try the new mask your friend swears by.

The week of the wedding

  • Sleep, as much as you can
  • Skip salty dinners the night before
  • A light exfoliation three days before, then nothing new
  • Moisturise morning and night

The morning of

Wash your face, moisturise and come as you are. I take care of the rest: a skin prep massage, hydrating layers and a long-wear base that photographs beautifully, from the first look to the last dance.
